ReiKaiDo is pleased to announce J.I.M.

Just Imagine Miracles

J.I.M. is our initiative to help support balance and nurture more stable foundations for the youth in our communities and in the Foster Care System through sports. Starting with parents, guardians, mentors, and community support, we can create a ripple effect that expands the growth and development of our youth. J.I.M. is for every stage of life, whether you are a child just learning how to play, an individual who is reminiscing of the good ole times when you played high school or college sports, a spectator, or just someone who cares, this dynamic and energetic shift is for everyone.

Why is this important? Our youth are struggling. The statistics are staggering, but studies show that children involved in sports have a much higher rate of success. Sports can provide stability and consistency. Most towns and schools have sports teams and leagues, and virtually anywhere has a patch of concrete or an area of grass. Involvement in sports provides a sense of control, gives a child something they can focus on, and provides hope. Sports teach resilience and patience. Practice builds character. Individual and social growth and development skills are learned. Sports provide encouragement, a place to be cheered for, a place of belonging, teach commitment, dedication, determination, and responsibility. Through sports, children learn self-regulation, have an outlet for processing emotions, and learn to stay focused. Self-esteem and confidence are boosted through active engagement of sports, and friendships develop, leading to a more balanced life.

We are creating a movement, through the motion of sports, to inspire and instill the knowledge that everyone can become a legend, with one play at a time. YOU can be a legend! Whether your play is picking up a ball and throwing it with the youth, coaching a team, donating funds or gently used sports gear, or cheering on a child from the stands. YOU can create change, and together we can aim to create a change that ripples through the generations by continuing to create positive growth and the opportunity for legends to be born. Be a part of the team and help provide safety, security, and belonging to our next generation.

J.I.M. is the creation of ReiKaiDo co-owner Lisa Wassenhove, in honor of her father, Jim Wassenhove. Jim coached Lisa’s teams and fostered her love of the game starting at age 3 into her early teenage years before his passing. What she didn’t know at the time, was that through his coaching, he was actually preparing her for life. He taught her the value of sports, and that what she and others “perceived” to be her limitations, were actually blessings to give her the drive to work harder and do better. The drive, dedication, and commitment that she learned has served her successfully throughout her military and working career and literally saved her life. Now, she aims to serve others by sharing this knowledge and passion and translating to our youth and community that it doesn’t matter where you come from or what your “perceived” limitations are, you can accomplish anything you put your mind to. It just takes encouragement, drive, willingness, and the consistency of practice to BE A LEGEND and CREATE CHANGE.

Stay Tuned! We are putting programs to help our youth into motion!
